Vacation....Day 7

Day 7

We got up at 6 am to break down camp to head out to Reno. After our hot chocolate and coffee with the Ranger, we headed out at about 8 am. First stop, the tunnel view of Yosemite for some more pictures, then Bridal Veil Falls and potty for Brent and Kayleigh. Only Kayleigh and Brent walked to the falls since everyone else was asleep in the car. Kayleigh posed so that Brent could take some pictures of her. Next stop, Bodie, an old ghost town. The drive leaving Yosemite was absolutely breathtaking! Better than the valley by far. We went to about 9,500 ft. I took tons of pics of our drive out of Yosemite. We arrived in Bodie and found that 3 miles of the road was dirt. How fun was that? On dirt in a mini van:) So we get to Bodie and AMAZING!!! I thought Lincoln County on our trip last year was cool, but this had it beat! The town is a ghost town in its natural state. Inside the houses you saw beds, couches, furniture, dishes, clothes, etc. that were left behind. You saw a saloon with all the liquor bottles and glasses, poker tables still inside, a hotel, jail and school house. We stayed for about 2 hours but could have used more time. Jordan said he didn't buy it, he didn't think the people left all their stuff behind. But when I explained that back in the late 1800's there was no such thing as a U-haul truck, he started thinking:) Kids now days have no idea what it was like back then. Next stop, Nevada State Capitol in Carson City. Top 2 state capitol we have seen. Original capitol made with limestone, sandstone and marble inside. Their dome wasn't really a dome, but a cubic, so you couldnt' see inside the dome (that is what I usually love about capitols). As old and small as it is, it is fully in use which we truly appreciated. Next stop lunch/dinner. We ate a bunch of snacks on the way to our hotel since we were in a rush. It looks like Wendy's and Jack N Box, then Super 8 motel. When we arrived at the hotel, we all took our showers and man it really makes you appreciate having showers every day. I am sure we all smelled bad, with having no baths for 6 nights. The girls waited til about 11:30 pm that night to go to bed, so laundry had to wait.

View of Yosemite from the tunnel view. Majestic!

Our beautiful Kayleigh posing in front of Bridal Veil Falls. She is just gorgeous!

El Capitan

One of the many lakes we encountered out of Yosemite. Just breathtaking!

I love this picture. You can see the shining and glistening on the water.

Beautiful view from afar.

There was still snow on top of the mountains. We were at 9,500 ft at this time.

Jordan and Trinity outside of Bodie.

Pool table in one of the halls that was left behind. Look at the detail of the feet of the table. Kind of scary but very cool!

One of the houses we were able to go into. Look at all the details of the room. Thr flooring that is peeling off, the furniture left behind that is in complete shambles, the wallpaper. Amazing to see history standing still.

This is school the public system in CA will be coming to. An old run down school house in a ghost town:) Had to take a picture in front of it since we do homeschool:)

Bodie from the other side of town.

The storm that followed us but never rained down on us:( We were praying very hard for it to rain on us since our car was NASTY!

The sign speaks for itself!

Trinity, Jordan, Journey and I on the steps of the Capitol building.

Kayleigh exploring:)
