Brents 32nd Birthday celebration!

On September 25th, my lovely husband turned 32! Yes he is almost 2 years younger than me, I like to say 1 but in 2 weeks that wont be true anymore, so I will come clean:) To celebrate his birthday I had one of my best friends, Kristina, who really has become like a sister to Brent and myself and an Auntie to my kids, her new beau, and her son come over for some dinner and my homemade cake. Brent wanted a hockey cake of course and Colorado Avalanche none other:) So I attempted my cake, but this time I wanted to experiment with a homemade ice cream cake. Oh my, it came out so yummy! It was homemade chocolate peanut butter ice cream with vanilla cake and chocolate peanut butter buttercream iceing, yes heart attack waiting to happen, but worth it! The night was so much fun and so relaxing. Most of all, it was well needed for all of us! I am so glad we could celebrate his birthday and my friends birthday together!

The inside of the cake...yummy!

The masterpiece. Kristina got her own jersey and so did Brent. CO Avalanche replicas:)

Why is Brent so sad?

OK so I made him get real:)

Singing happy birthday!

Blowing out the candles.

Putting Tiaras together (Brents gift from Kristina, total joke)!

A crazy past 2 weeks

The past 2 weeks have been very crazy for me, stressful and well I must admit I have felt some high levels of insanity! What I loved about homeschooling became something I was loathing. Jordan is being homeschool through the public school system and it sucks! They are the most unorganized people ever! They have me on this endless paper trail gathering that honestly I just finally told myself "screw you". They get mad because he is behind, but they dont realize he is behind because they give me the lesson plans a week late, so what we were doing and what they wanted done were totally not equally. Then they keep requesting a copy of this and that and frankly I am done trying to get them what they want. It is very similar to refinancing or mortgaging a home:) Once I get them out of my hair we should have a fun time. Kayleigh's schooling has been going amazing! I love my ES and the curriculum is really good. I changed her phonics and reading curriculum though to Reading a-z. It seems to be more fun and teaching her more than the other curriculum I was using. I meet Monday with my ES to see how we are doing.

Amongst that, Journey got sick again, so bad that her asthma came back full force. I did take her off of her medication on July 25th and she hadn't been sick in almost 2 months, but when it came back, it came back hard. That would be becuase the medicine was a maintance drug. It wasnt really meant to keep her from getting sick at all (which I was told was the purpose) but to keep her out of the hospital. On Friday night, she was retracting so bad and wheezing I gave her treatment and watched her over the weekend. When I took her in Monday, she had fluid in her left lung, an ear infection and sinus infection. My poor baby, she hadnt slept in almost a week, and I saw why!

That all being said, today was Brents birthday. We celebrated it by going to our close friends birthday party for their one year old son. We had a blast and so did the kids! They got to go on the slip and slide and kiddie pool. They got plenty of junk food and favors to last them a life time:) Tomorrow we have one of my dearest friends coming over with her boyfriend and son for a dinner celebration and some cake for their birthdays. I cant wait!! I get to experiment with my cake making again. I am trying another technique and am making an ice cream cake. I hope it comes out well, I am a little stressed about that. I take my cakes very seriously:)

A lot has been going on!

Wow, it has been a busy past 2 weeks. It started off with me meeting with Jordan's teacher through Parkview. I will still be homeschooling, but Jordan will be going through Parkview, which pays for all of his curriculum, and by doing this he will be able to take up to 2 classes on Esperanza's campus. One will be English and the other of course will be sports. He could have attended the brand new school that Yorba Linda just opened last year, but all of his friends attend Esperanza so that is where he wanted to go. This being the last year it was open enrollment regardless of your residency, we went with it. Well everything the Principal had told me would be happening at this meeting with the teacher, wasn't at all the case. I thought I would be getting his school schedule for Esperanza, but instead I was told I should have enrolled him a couple of months ago. So after getting his books and his school schedule for home, I rushed down to Esperanza and file a concurrent form with the high school. They told me they would call me and then he would be enrolled. Well the following day was a furlough day and then the weekend, and of course Labor Day and the following day was the first day of school. Not receiving a phone call, I went down to the high school with Jordan to see if we could get him in, but they said no. I had to talk to the assistant principal to get him in. So as soon as I got home I called the assistant principal and he decided to let him attend class even though he wasnt actually enrolled, Hooray!! Accomplished something. Now when I got my books from Parkview, they didnt give me a Math book for Jordan and then gave me 8th grade science. I was so horribly upset that on Tuesday, instead of starting school, I am fixing mistakes the public school system cant get right. So I had to drive down and retrieve the new books. Then I dropped Jordan off for basketball practice for school. When I picked him up from his friends house, Jordan started complaining that his hand really hurt and he did look in pain. But he said he should be fine. That night I started Daisies, I was the leader and I was nervous. I did pretty well, but would really like to get some fun ideas together for the girls to do. That night I took Jordan to the ER to find out that he had fractured his growth plates in his wrist! So after 4 hours in the ER, he got a splint. We now have a doctors appointment on Monday:( Brent and I have also decided to serve at our church for Awanas, so last night we had training. This is going to be so much fun serving the Lord with his amazing gifts together!:) Love it!

I must say after all of this that I love homeschooling this year. I love the Charter, Kayleigh is having a blast. She is so smart and just loves to be schooled. Kayleigh has also started Ice skating classes and oh my gosh how good has she gotten! I just love watching her and she just loves it, much more than ballet! Now that Jordan is settled in school, he is actually doing his work this year, we are on a schedule and it is working out amazingly!

This weekend will be yet another busy one. I have still some running around to do for school and get some other materials, plus my dear friends birthday is this weekend and my brother in law is getting married. Thinking of all I need to do makes me want to curl up in a ball and just go to sleep:) I am looking forward to next week where everything is settled and there is nothing really to do:)
