Kayleigh got scratched by a cat!
We gave my in laws our cat, Lilly, about a month ago, and our house has been much more quiet. Well, the other day, we all went over to their house and Kayleigh was holding Lilly and then Lilly scratches her for no reason. Brent first comes out of the house and tells me that Lilly scratched Kayleigh. He goes back in the house, and proceeds to tell me she might need stitches. When I saw the scratch, it was pretty deep so we took her to the doctor. They flushed it out and since it was a scratch from a cat, they put her on antibiotics. I guess an infection from a cat scratch is pretty much a given and is pretty serious. Well the girl HATES her antibiotics. Brent and i had to pin her down, when she proceeded to pull my hair and kick me! Wonderful! Only 3 more days to go on this antibiotic!!! I hope to live through it:)

Oh the woes of planning
I met with my ES yesterday for Kayleigh's homeschooling and oh boy I am excited yet a little scared. I am going to be the one to teach her everything and I dont want to mess it up. I want to keep our days educational but fun at the same time. I have tons of field trips planned and am now trying to plan our daily lessons out. This is taking some time. I meet with Jordans teacher for homeschooling on Sept 1st, so I cant fully complete my planning until after that meeting since he will have one class on Esperanzas campus. Oh boy, I have one going into Kindergarten and one going into high school with 2 toddlers running around. Both ends of the spectrum, the beginning of an adventure for both of them and both are major teachings. One is getting ready to read and write while the other is preparing for college and his future! This will take lots of prayer and breathing to get through:)

Day 11
Day 11....
We woke up at 9 am and oh my the beds were so comfy. We all slept great! Brent walked to Carls Jr to get us an ever so expensive breakfast but man did the kids eat! Kelly picked us up at 10:45 am and took us back to her house. The kids got to play one last time and we left at about noon. We got some gas, some lunch and made our way back home. I couldnt wait to get there! So what was everyone's favorite thing to do? The final verdict....
Me: Walking 3 mile steep hill to Delicate Arch and the rainbow at Antelope State Park
Brent: Walking and climbing Double Arch
Jordan: Arches National Park, climbing everything he could!
Kayleigh: Camping, everything about it!
Trinity: Meeting and talking up a storm with all our camping neighbors:)
Journey: Toss up between ice cream at Zions National Park and walking the campgrounds exploring:)
So wondering what next years road trip will be? California's coast to hit the spots we havent hit before and of course hitting the Jelly Belly factory again, I can't wait!

Jordan asking, "Why am I here with a bunch of girls?" LOL

Day 10
Day 10...
We got a late start as usual for Las Vegas. First stop St. George to play in the water again. The kids had such a blast the first time we thought we would visit it again. Brent and Jordan even played. My husband acted like a big kid playing in the water, it was very cute:) When we arrived to Vegas we noticed Stratosphere was in the ghetto. We all took showers and felt so good to be clean. We hadn't had showers in 6 days! :( We smelled! We then got together with my high school friend, Kelly Miller and her kids for some dinner and ice cream and then went back to her place to chat while the girls played with toys and their 2 guinnea pigs and 2 rabbits. One of the rabbits peed on Jordan and I. Too funny! We left around midnight when Kelly drove us to our hotel so that we could have our car parked at her house in a safe place. When we got back to the hotel, Kayleigh insisted we watch the Stratosphere channel where it shows all the crazy people jumping off the building:) Thats my girl! Sorry no pictures on this day. Our camera had run out of the batteries the night before, but there really wasnt anything to take pictures of that you hadn't seen.

Day 9
Day 9...
We woke up and made eggs and bacon for breakfast...yummy! Then off for a day of hiking. First we rode the tram up to furthest part of Zions and took the Riverwalk which was just gorgeous. It was a 1.2 mile walk along the river, through the canyon of rocks with plenty of shade and crazy squirrels. The kids got to play a little in the river and cool down. On our way down we sat and ate some lunch with some squirrels coming to our feet for food. Of course we had to scare them away. Then on to Weeping Rock trail. VERY steep and we pushed up the girls in the strollers while I packed Journey. But the end result was amazing! Plus you got wet. The view of the canyon was amazing and served as an amazing backdrop to our pictures. It almost looks fake. Next, Emerald Pool, a 1.2 mile hike again with strollers that was up and down. It turned out to be a really great hike for exercising, but the pool was just a little pool of water, not to interesting. We then went to Zions Lodge for some soft serve ice cream-all of us were in heaven. It was really yummy ice cream. We all got to enjoy it on some grass while the girls played as well. Journey was just glad to be released and ru around. We then rode the tram back to get ready for some swimming in the river. That was an event in itself! Just imagine 3 little ones that dont know how to swim with only 2 adults. Brent went intertubing down the river once by himself and once with Kayleigh while we chilled in the river. For dinner we had chinese food and we all agreed that it tasted so good and was so filling. The kids made smores of course and we all went to bed.

Day 8
Day 8...
During our stayover at Capital Reef, it thundered and lightened so bad that Jordan asked to sleep next to me. It was really cool seeing all the bright lightening literally over our heads and hearing the loud thunder unlike i have ever heard before. The thunder was so loud it sounded as if someone was banging a drum right next to your head, crazy!! We were able to leave camp at about 9:45 am and get our start off to Zions National Park. On the way the drive was stunning. We went through some mountains which reached 9,600 feet. We saw cows and deer crossing the street and some cowboys on their horses with their dogs running after them, plenty of Aspen trees and amazing views. We then went through Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. Pretty freacky for me. At some points we were driving on the top of a mountain literally as big as the road with it dropping off on both sides! Going through the rest was really cool. All the different canyons, sandstone rocks and wildlife kept it interesting. We passed through Bryce Canyon National Park, but being we have seen it before, it was no biggie. Especially since it was raining, lightening, and thundering in the park. We finally arrived at Zions National Park at 4 pm. The rain was incredible on our way to Zions. We were a little afraid it was on our way to us, so we tried to get camp set up as fast as possible. As soon as camp was set up, it started pouring and I mean POURING! It rained like that for about 30-40 mins and then the skies cleared up. It was fun while it rained since we got to play Deal or No Deal in the tent. After the rain, the kids all got out and went and played in the rain puddles-oh boy were they a mess, but they had so much fun. We even met our neighbors who had 3 little ones as well, same ages as our youngest 3 and they were from Oakland, CA. So we could actually converse. For dinner we had rice with chicken and lentils, corn and smores for dessert. Trinity was so tired that she fell asleep while eating dinner. After we got the kids to bed, Brent, Jordan and I sat by the fire enjoying each others company.
