Vacation....Day 3

Day 3

We all had an awesome night of sleep and followed it up with some yummy malt o meal and fruit for breakfast We left camp around 10 am to start our day in Kings Canyon National Park. What a beautiful drive! The cascading river flow along the highway between two granite walls of rock was amazing! First stop was a little picnic area along the river where we had PB & J's, chips and applesauce. After we ate, we hiked a little down to where the kids to go swimming asfely. There we met a wonderful family who had three children, Elijah (5), Evangeline (3), and Josiah (11 mo). Each of the kids had their own playmates. (For those who know me well, look at those names, Elijah and Josiah, both names I was going to name our kids if we had boys). We stayed and played until it started sprinkling and thundering. We then headed to Roaring River Falls where the girls and I waited in the car while the boys ventured up to the water falls. Next up was Knapps Cabin...can we say LAME! Not even worth getting everyone out of the car for. It was this pitiful little shed that looked rebuilt, so the history wasn't even there. We then headed back to camp but decided to tour Hume Lake first to see what it was all about. Very cool, bunch of kids were there for their church camp so Jordan got to see all the fun they were having:) We then got on the highway to be stuck behind this car going 35 in a 45 mph zone, which made us have to wait 30 min at a road work area since they had just let our side go. If we would have been going the normal speed we would have made it. Oh well, the girls were able to get out and explore on the highway for 30 min. When we got back to camp we were able to meet our new camping neighbors. They had 5 kids ranging from 4 to 13, of course the 13 yr old was a girl, so Jordan wore his stupid hoodie around so she wouldn't see his unwashed hair! The girls had a blast and played forever with them. We also spotted a buck in our campsite just roaming the river. It was gorgeous! For dinner we had chicken, hot dogs, sausage, couscous w/cranberries and corn. Of course smores over our campfire for dessert.

The beautiful drive on the way to Kings Canyon NP.
The river nestled in between the mountains.
Jordan, Brent and Trinity walking ahead to our swimming hole, while Kayleigh stops to pose.
Look it our view from where we were swimming. Beautiful isn't it?
Kayleigh playing with her friend in the swimming hole.

The Roaring River Fall.

Jordan exploring the Roaring River Fall.

Jordan showing off the lame Knapps Cabin, can't you just see his excitment!?

Love this picture! Kayleigh strapped her baby doll in her carseat with her.

Do you see the Buck in the middle of the picture. My camera won't zoom so this is the best we could get.

Kayleigh is in the pink dres playing with our new camping neighbors. She was the one taking over the conversation and had all of the girls' attention:) That's my Kayleigh!
